The Lance Armstrong Foundation - Livestrong "unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything"

In 1996, at age 25, Lance Armstrong was one of the world's best cyclists, winning the World Championships, the Tour de Pont, and multiple Tour de France stages.

On October 2, 1996, he is diagnosed with advanced testicular cancer which spread to his abdomen, lungs and brain. Lance declares himself a survivor - not a victim - and takes an active role in educating himself about his disease. Armed with knowledge, support and confidence in medicine he undergoes aggressive treatment and beats the disease.

Lance Armstrong established his Foundation in 1997 before he knew whether he would survive his own cancer.

They have million members, maybe even more, all over the world, and 36 leaders. Lance is the chairman and leader.

In 2006, 100 cancer advocates from all 50 states in Washington, D. C. and participants in more than 120 local events across the country urge Congress to make founding for cancer research and programs a Since its inception, the Lance Armstrong Foundation has committed more than $14.4 million toward research projects.

Since their inception, the Lance Armstrong has raised $181 million to support cancer survivorship programs and initiatives to make cancer a national priority. And the Lance Armstrong Foundation has committed more than $14.4 million toward research projects.

They have long-term agreements with organizations to enhance the public health infrastructure surrounding survivorship issues.

Along with the organization Centers of Disease Control, they developed a National Action Plan for Cancer Survivorship which helps health organizations, physicians and caregivers understand and address survivorship needs.

They have been fantastic successful, especially in the road racing cyclist environment. And trough the Tour De France they have got a fantastic reclamation. And when the foundation have sold over 70 million wristband worldwide, and raised $ 181 million, you can see have fantastic successful they have been.

Why did I choose to present this particular organization? Well because what this man, Lance Armstrong, has done is just amazing, it’s nothing more to say. Not only because of his achievement on the bike, have he fought his way back from cancer, which is just incredible. But after having fought the cancer away, he creates a foundation! After being near to death, he went out of it strong , willing to use time and strength to inspire and empower cancer suffers like him and to help their families. And we can see today what an incredible foundation he has made, so many families he hashelped, inspired and empower them. We are talking about a fantastic man. After fighting his way back from the cancer he just went on and won the worlds longest, biggest and hardest cycling race, The Tour De France, seven consecutive times, from 1999 to 2005, yes you heard me right, seven times in a row. This man is not only a idol, but he has become a legend, a hero. This earth need more people like him, it`s nothing more to say about that.
